LiftMaster keypad and intercom repair in Orlando typically runs $160 to $420 installed, depending on whether we’re replacing the keypad face, the intercom board, or the full unit. Most jobs are done same day because we keep LiftMaster-compatible keypads and intercom modules on our trucks. The usual discovery is simple: the keypad stops responding to the code you’ve used for years, or the intercom cuts out mid-conversation with someone at the gate.
You’ll notice it first as a small annoyance. The buttons feel soft or unresponsive. The intercom audio crackles. Then one day the gate won’t open at all from the keypad and you’re stuck using the remote or walking out to open it by hand. That’s when owners call us.
Which LiftMaster Models This Applies To
We service LiftMaster keypads and intercoms across the LA400, LA412, LA500, CSL24V, and SL3000 series, plus the newer Smart Keypad lines. The keypad is a standalone wireless or wired unit that talks to the gate operator; the intercom is the phone-style box mounted by the driveway or gatepost that lets visitors call the house.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha most Orlando owners hit: a LiftMaster keypad built before 2018 won’t talk to a 2022 control board without a receiver bridge. The part physically fits the post, but the radio frequency has shifted. We check the model and build date on the label before quoting anything so you don’t pay for a part that won’t communicate. You can find the model number on a silver sticker inside the keypad battery compartment or on the back of the intercom housing.
Fix an intercom, and the factory part matters more. We use LiftMaster OEM boards when the installation calls for it and quality aftermarket equivalents only when the OEM part is discontinued, which is more common on intercoms than keypads. We will tell you which one we’re installing and why.

Signs Your LiftMaster Keypad or Intercom Is Failing
- Buttons need repeated presses to register. The membrane contacts under the pad wear down over time. Humidity accelerates it, and we see this often near Orlando lakes and low-lying neighborhoods. It’s not your fingers. It’s the pad.
- Keypad works sometimes and not others. Intermittent response usually points to a failing radio module or loose internal connections. The part hasn’t died yet, but it’s going to.
- Intercom audio is crackling or one-way. You can hear the visitor but they can’t hear you, or vice versa. That’s the intercom board degrading, not a speaker wire.
- Keypad backlight stays dim or flickers. This is often a failing power supply inside the keypad housing. In Florida, heat in direct sun makes this worse on south-facing posts.
- The gate opens with the remote but never with the keypad. If remotes work, the operator is fine. The problem is the keypad transmitter, its wiring, or a lost programming sync with the board.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Orlando, expect to pay $160 to $280 for a standard LiftMaster keypad replacement installed, including the part and labor. Intercom replacement runs $280 to $420 depending on whether we’re swapping the outside station only or the inside phone as well. If the wiring between the keypad and operator has been chewed by ants or cooked by lightning, that adds labor, and we’ll show you pictures before we touch anything.
Every price is written and agreed before any work starts. You won’t get a surprise line item at the end. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the repair in writing; if it fails within a year, the return visit is free. You’ll know the price before I touch anything.
DIY or Call Us?
Keypad and intercom work involves low-voltage wiring, and the danger of a wrong repair is not electrocution but a gate that opens when it shouldn’t or won’t open when it should. We do not recommend opening an intercom housing and swapping boards yourself. You can safely check the keypad batteries, clear debris from the button edges, and confirm the keypad lights up. Past that, the wiring and programming are where Orlando owners create bigger problems than the one they started with.
If you’ve already tried new batteries and the pad still won’t respond, call us at (321) 465-7089. We’ll match the part to your exact LiftMaster model, bring it on the truck, and have your gate working again, usually the same day.
FAQs
A LiftMaster keypad in Central Florida lasts 5 to 8 years on average, and an intercom typically 6 to 10. Direct sun, lake humidity, and the heat inside a metal post box wear these parts down faster than the national averages. Keypads on shaded posts or under covers outlast those facing afternoon sun.
Sometimes. If the pad has a cracked button membrane or a corroded battery terminal, we can repair it in place for under $100. If the radio module has failed or the board is dead, replacement is cheaper and more reliable. We’ll show you the inside and tell you honestly which one applies. Call (321) 465-7089 and we’ll walk you through what to look for.
A keypad replacement takes 30 to 45 minutes once we’re on site. An intercom swap typically runs 45 to 90 minutes depending on the wiring run. Most jobs never require a second visit.
Yes. We carry LiftMaster OEM keypads for the LA400, LA412, and LA500 series, CSL24V, and the Smart Keypad line, plus intercom modules and boards. We also stock compatible parts for Mighty Mule, Ghost Controls, and DoorKing if your system mixes brands. If your model needs something uncommon, we order it and install it the same week.
